Deux premieres semaines... The first two weeks...

I first want to start by apologizing for taking so long to give you guys news. We have been back in Belize for two days now (for Alyssa's wedding) and we are going back to Mexico Tuesday morning. Alyssa's (staff at YWAM) wedding was GREAT and I am so glad that I got to attend. She was absolutely gorgeous and Israel was looking pretty good as well. Our team helped with setting up, serving the meal and cleaning up afterwards (we are still on outreach...but we were happy to do it). Today, we did other work around the base, and tomorrow is our day off. Our first two weeks of outreach went great, but not without its challenges. The first 10 days, we were in Playa del Carmen. We stayed all five of us in a very small room at our translator's house. So, it was really hot at times (what am I saying, it was always CRAZY HOT in there). We were kind of scared of the consequences of being in a small, hot room, sleeping on floors for a week all together, but it ended up bringing us closer together as a team. On that note, I have been having the great pleasure to really get to know my team and I couldn't feel any luckier. They are AWESOME and everyone brings something different to the team. In Playa we worked with different churches, helping them paint, clean and we also participated in church services sharing our testimonies, short sermons and singing worship songs (everyone on my team is musically gifted, except for me). We had an incredible time with the people there, especially with our translator, Monse. She welcomed us in and helped us so much. Her mother also cooked for us. OH MY GOSH, it was amazing food! We were so blessed. We did have a little scary moment though. One night, we went on 5th avenue (tourist street), where there is all the clubs, bars and shops, to do some bar ministry. But it wasn't what we expected at all. It was packed and extremely noisy (we could not even talk). While we were walking, a drunken man touched Chris on his chess, right near his neck. So, Chris took his hand and pushed him away, and started walking again. Then, the man pulled out a knife. But when he noticed that there were too many people between Chris and him, he started running in the opposite direction, yelling things. So, that was a bit of a scare, but everyone if fine.

Then, for a few days, we went to Bacalar, where we joined YWAM Denver. We did a lot of park ministry, talking to people and getting to know them. It was incredible to see how God used us through our dramas, testimonies and even our passions. Chris is an extremely good basketball player and it’s his passion, and he had the chance to be a part of a basketball practice and teach kids some tricks.

Je veux d'abord commencer par présenter des excuses pour avoir tant tardé à vous donner des nouvelles. Nous avons été de retour au Belize pour deux jours (pour le mariage d'Alyssa) et nous allons retourner au Mexique mardi matin. Le mariage d’ Alyssa (personnel de JEM) était super et je suis tellement heureuse que j'ai eu à y assister. Elle était super belle et Israël etait pas pire aussi.haha! Notre équipe a aidé à la mise en place, avec le service du repas et le nettoyage par la suite (nous sommes encore dans la phase missionnaire donc on nous met au travail ... mais nous étions heureux de le faire). Aujourd'hui, nous avons fait d'autres travaux autour de la base, et demain, c'est notre jour de repos. Nos deux premières semaines de mission se sont super bien passées, mais pas sans ses défis. Les 10 premiers jours, nous étions à Playa del Carmen. Nous sommes restés tous les cinq d'entre nous dans une très petite chambre dans la maison de notre traducteur. Donc, il faisait vraiment chaud à certains moments (qu’est-ce que je dis-la, il faisait toujours super chaud). Nous avions un peu peur des conséquences d'être dans une petite chambre chaude, a dormir sur le plancher pendant une semaine tous ensemble, mais ca l’a fini par nous rapprocher en tant qu'équipe. Les derniers semaines, j'ai vraiment appris à connaître mon équipe, et tout ce que je peux dire c’est qu’ils sont super!. Ils sont impressionnants et chacun apporte quelque chose de différent à l'équipe. A Playa, nous avons travaillé avec différentes églises, les aidant à peinturer, nettoyer, et nous avons également participé à des services d’Eglises, ou nous avons partager nos témoignages, des sermons et des chansons de louanges (tout le monde dans mon équipe est doué musicalement). Nous avons eu un temps incroyable avec les gens là-bas, surtout avec notre traducteur, Monse. Elle nous a accueillis chez elle et nous aide avec tellement de choses. Sa mère a également cuisiné pour nous.Oh, la nourriture etait incroyable! Par contre, nous avons eu un moment un peu effrayant. Une nuit, nous sommes allés sur la 5e avenue (rue touristique), où il y a tout les clubs, bars et boutiques, pour faire de l’evangelisation, mais ce. Il y avait beaucoup de gens et c’etait extrêmement bruyant (on ne pouvait même pas s’entendre parler). Pendant que nous marchions, un homme saol a touché Chris, proche de son cou. Chris a pris sa main et l’a repousse, et ensuite il a continue a marche. Puis, l'homme a sorti un couteau. Mais quand il a remarqué qu'il y avait trop de gens entre Chris et lui, il a commencé à courir dans la direction opposée, en criant des insultes. Donc, c'était un peu effrayant, mais rien de grave est arrive.
A part de ca, pendant quelques jours, nous sommes allés à Bacalar, où nous avons rejoint JEM Denver. Nous avons fait beaucoup d’evangelisation ou de ministères dans le parc, a parler aux gens, a faire des skits et a apprendre à les connaître. C'était incroyable de voir comment Dieu nous a utilise a travers nos skits, nos témoignages et même nos passions. (Chris est un joueur de basket très bon et c'est sa passion, et il a eu la chance de faire partie d'une pratique de basket-ball et enseigner aux enfants quelques tours.)
